Oxford - Colleges &

                        Stately Homes

27 - 30 September 2010

The dreaming spires of Matthew Arnold’s Oxford,

the birthplace of Winston Churchill and the

renaissance chateau of the Rothschilds combine to

make this a delightful short break.  Blenheim

Palace, home of the Duke and Duchess of

Marlborough, is set in 2100 acres of beautiful

parkland landscaped by Capability Brown. Inside

the scale of the Palace is beautifully balanced by

intricate carvings, hand painted ceilings and

amazing porcelain collections, tapestries and paintings.

Waddesdon Manor is an astonishing Renaissance

style chateau designed by French architect, Destailleur

in 1874 for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild to display

his vast collection of 18th century French decorative

arts – furniture, Savonniere carpets and Sevres

Porcelain.  The Victorian gardens are considered some

of the finest in England.
