Highlights of KentThroughout August 2006
These day excursions, which will mainly be on a Thursday, depart at about 08.30 and return by 18.30/19.00.
Morning coffee and biscuits will be served on the coach. Lunch can usually be obtained at the place being visited or you are welcome to bring a picnic if you wish.
Some of the places being visited are National Trust properties. We have not included entries fees in the price shown below as we realise that many of our clients are members of the National Trust
Thursday 3 August KNOLE (NT) & CHARTWELL (NT)Knole’s fascinating links with royalty and the literary set of Vita Sackville-West and Virginia Woolf make this one of the most intriguing houses in England while Chartwell was the family home of Winston Churchill from 1924.
Tuesday 15 August FINCHCOCKS & SISSINGHURST CASTLE GARDEN (NT)Developed by Vita Sackville-West and her husband, Sissinghurst Castle Garden is now one of the world’s most celebrated gardens. Finchcocks is home to a superb collection of historic keyboard instruments.
Thursday 17 August HEVER CASTLE
Hever is a lovely moated castle set in wonderful gardens and is most famous as the family home of Anne Boleyn and its connections with King Henry VIII. The grounds feature an Italian Garden, a Rose Garden, and a picturesque lake.
