Western CanadaThe Rockies & Vancouver
11 - 22 August 2008
Our 12-day tour features the best of Western Canada, beginning in the cowboy city of Calgary, ending in the coastal city of Vancouver and enjoying the magnificent Rocky Mountains in between. Having spent our first night in Calgary we travel by coach to Banff, gateway to the Rockies. From Banff we take the Icefield Parkway to Lake Louise, perhaps one of the most photographed lakes in the world. We stay overnight at Chateau Lake Louise with its superb lakeside location. Our journey from Lake Louise to Jasper is through magnificent scenery – towering mountains, huge waterfalls, emerald green lakes and huge glaciers. We stop at Athabasca Glacier for a snow-coach ride on to the glacier itself.
From Jasper we visit Maligne Lake and Spirit Island. We leave Jasper aboard the world-famous Rocky Mountaineer. The train winds its way through truly magnificent mountain scenery to Kamloops, where we stop overnight in a hotel before spending a second day on the train as the scenery changes from mountain to river canyon.
We arrive into Vancouver where we spend the last two days of our tour. Vancouver is a lovely city with lots to see including Grouse Mountain, Capilano Suspension Bridge and much more.
Accommodation throughout the tour is in good 4* hotels mainly from the Fairmont Hotel group. Our Fairmont hotels include the famous Banff Springs Hotel, Chateau Lake Louise and the Fairmont Vancouver.
